Evaporators - Shell and Tube
Doucette’s shell & tube evaporators (also known as chiller barrels, chillers or barrels) are used for capacities from 5 to 125 TR and are usually supplied with two refrigerant circuits above 15 TR. Doucette evaporators are carefully engineered to provide excellent heat transfer rates, effective refrigerant boiling and provide assured oil carry through. Shell circuits are engineered to provide high performance with a low pressure drop to conserve the required pumping power. Vessels can be engineered for very high chilled water flows for specific applications.
Doucette evaporators are available in direct expansion types in standard or special materials and nozzle orientations. Since these units have copper tubes as standard they are limited to non corrosive applications. Direct expansion design does not permit mechanical cleaning like that using shell and tube condenser units. Other similar models include shell and coil and tube-in-tube.
